The Centre of Islamic Spirituality at Al-Qadir

The Centre of Islamic Spirituality at Al-Qadir seeks to materialize a carefully-devised fusion of modern learning and practices in the field of self development and personal excellence with the classical sufi literature and practice. We believe that such a fusion can inspire personal moral transformation in our society at large.

We seek to combine traditional forms and practice of acquiring knowledge from the known and unknown, with modern framework(s) of metaphysical questions, through the research produced at this Centre.

Such a centre will enable aspiring scholars and researchers to produce scholarship with an intent to spread academic awareness about classical sufi thought and reform the current practices in light of it.. It will play a pivotal role in reviving the spirit of authentic sufi tradition while engaging in constructive outcomes for a collective character refinement of the society at large.

Al-Qadir Centre for Research in Seerah

Seerah; the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is by consensus of the scholars of religion, across sects and divisions, the single most influential source of guidance (after the Holy Quran) for every Muslim. For 1400 years, men gifted with intellect, tried to unravel the enigma that is Muhammad(SAW) yet the sources remain inexhausted. How can a man be the embodiment of virtue yet master the art of social skills, diplomacy and conflict resolution? He was a symbol of mercy and justice and commanded respect and admiration from his followers and foes alike by sporting kindness, humility and dignity as a lifestyle.

The Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) multi-dimensional personality and extra ordinary feats inspire people across cultures, sects, religions and races, in varied ways. Al-Qadir is an educational institute, founded principally to serve Allah (SWT) and humanity, following the prophetic example. The Al-Qadir Centre for Research in Seerah will serve as a dedicated space for research and dissemination of learning outcomes, extracted from the profound wisdom of the Prophet (SAW), during his life and times.  .

Centre for Education & Tarbiyah at Al-Qadir

In the classical Islamic tradition, Tarbiyah preceded the formal education of a student. Tarbiyah helped a student acquire the prerequisite ethics to embark on a journey of seeking knowledge. In the modern era, unfortunately Tarbiyah is divorced from the process of seeking knowledge and restrictively understood only in terms of character building.

We, at Al-Qadir believe that adab (putting things in their proper places) is the core of Tarbiyah which is integral to the educational process as understood and enacted by the luminaries of the classical Islamic period. Adab enables seekers of knowledge to intelligently receive and perceive information and learn to extract and appropriate useful knowledge.

The Centre for Education & Tarbiyah at Al-Qadir will strive to restructure the process of learning. It will restore the integral component of tarbiyah to the trajectory of the process of education and learning, in order to produce individuals with a holistic approach in their personal and professional lives.
