Barrister Ali Zafar currently serves as a senator of the ruling party for the 2021-2026 tenure. He has previously served as the President for Pakistan for South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and is a partner for a leading legal consultancy of Pakistan; “Mandviwalla & Zafar”. He has previously served as the caretaker Minister for Law and Justice before the 2018 elections.
Barrister Ali Zafar is a renowned political analyst who regularly writes columns for the Express Tribune. He served as a barrister for high courts and supreme court for 31 years and was elected as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association in 2015.Thereafter, he remained involved in the political landscape of Pakistan. He is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), and played a role for Pakistan as an arbitrator in various international arbitrations. His expertise lies in constitutional law, administrative law, banking laws, NAB related matters, property law, corporate law among others. He earned his (LLB) from the London School of Economics in 1983.
