Dr. Arif Iqbal Rana is one of the leading experts of our region in the field of operations management. He is also a pioneer of case studies in Pakistan, with over 60 cases to his credit. He has been a leading consultant for Family Businesses and Small and Medium Enterprises. Dr.Arif is also amongst the founding members of one of Pakistan’s finest business and management institutions.
Dr. Arif has served at the Suleman Dawood School of Business at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) for nearly three decades. His illustrious career at LUMS ranges from academic milestones to the application of his diverse skill set into highly successful on-field training and consultation programs.
He has taught a variety of MBA courses in the areas of Operations Management, Decision Making, Supply Chain and Retail Management, and Family Business. He has published and co-authored research papers in the aforementioned fields, in various well-acclaimed publications, including the European Journal of Operations Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, and Malaysian Journal of Small & Medium Enterprises. He has an impressive career in case writing, which has allowed him to produce more than 60 case studies.
He served as an Associate Professor at LUMS and went on to assume the role of the Director of the EMBA program. He also initiated the SME Pulse Initiative along with the Textile Productivity Initiative. Furthermore, he has consulted many SME and Family Businesses on the improvement of Productivity and Inventory Management. He served as the Director of the Entrepreneurship of Small and Medium Enterprise Centre (ESMEC) for nearly a decade. As a pioneer in the field, he consulted numerous small businesses and universities. He provided valuable insights to these institutions, on the reformation of existing faculty evaluation systems, program design and curriculum including facilities available to the students and staff.
Dr. Arif is currently serving as the Director of Scholastic School, Ibn Umar Branch, established in 2007. He is one of the founding members of the project, who envisioned imparting quality education with a focus on Tarbiyah to its staff and students.
Dr. Arif Iqbal Rana completed his Bachelors from Georgia School of technology, followed by a Masters from Purdue University and a PhD from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
